Abstract : This paper focuses on the way adolescents share knowledge on course or career choices in internet forums. The objectives were to identify the type of help sought by teenagers and to identify the discourses and representations that appear in forums. The corpus was composed of discussions among teenagers in the forum Ados.fr (in the sub-forum “Guidance”). The results show the importance of seeking social support and social comparison. The results also highlight an original “profane expertise” which adolescents have about career decisions, which is dialogical, argumentative and based on experience.
