A deterioration model for feedback control systems with random environment

Résumé

In this paper, we consider a PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) feedback control system operating under an uncertain environment that impacts the degradation of control-loop's components. An integrated model is proposed which jointly describes the state of the system and its degradation. By adopting a Piecewise Deterministic Markov Process, the RUL (Remaining Useful Life) can be computed by a two-step technique. First, the system state regarding the available observations is estimated on-line by usingthe Particle Filter method. Then, the reliability of the system is computed with a classical Monte Carlo method. To illustrate the approach, a well-known simulated water level control system is used.
