Modeling and optimization of biomass supply chain with two types of feedstock suppliers
Abstract
This paper deals with the stabilization of feedstock supply in a lignocellulosic biomass supply chain. We propose a flexible model which allows for optimizing supplier selection and transportation plan. This is a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model for simultaneously minimizing the total costs comprising purchase costs, pre-traitement costs, conversion costs, transportation costs and holding costs. This model could handle complex logistics operations in the supply chain to provide optimal decisions that include supplier selection and transportation plan. A numerical example is presented at the end to illustrate the features implemented in the model.
