EOQ models with stockouts for disassembly systems

Résumé

Although economic order quantity (EOQ) problem is a widespread problem with many variants, few of them are dedicated to disassembly systems which brings new issues in inventory management due to their specificities. EOQ problem for disassembly systems consists in determining reorder time interval and/or order quantity of end-of-life products which must be disassembled to obtain their component. Three new models are proposed for the problem variant with stockout. The stockouts are considered as full backorders, full lost sales and partial backorders. For each problem the cost function is derived according to the assumptions and dedicated methods are proposed. These models show that it can be economically interested to allow stockout depending on the input parameters.
