NeSAM: Negotiation based approach for Spectrum Access and Mobility management in cognitive radio networks

Résumé

Throughout the last decade, cognitive radio systems received a lot of consideration for spectrum optimization and create huge opportunities for interesting research in a wide range of applications. Spectrum access and sharing tasks are widely studied for static nodes; hence, we combine, in this paper, multi-agent negotiation for spectrum sharing with user‟s mobility. We deploy primary and cognitive radio (CR) agents on primary and secondary users, respectively and we define a novel negotiation mechanism in order to allow mobile CR users to access the appropriate spectrum band with negotiated price and duration. Our proposal takes into account users‟ needs and environment constraints. We define two alternatives of negotiation according to the CR users‟ requirements. Simulation results show that our approach, in both cases, improves the overall spectrum utilization, minimizes the number of spectrum handovers and conserves the continuity of service during user‟s mobility. In addition, our approach improves CR users‟ utility while guaranteeing the primary user‟s satisfaction.
